Guidelines for Modeling Pins in a Cell Library

Consider the following guidelines while deciding pin layers:

• Avoid creating M2 geometry on pins. This blocks routing for other nets if the M2 geometry is not required.
• Create an M2 pin only if the pin is accessible only by M3. That is, it is blocked completely with M1 and M2.
