ALIAS Statement

ALIAS Statement Removed

The ALIAS statement has not been in use for a long time now. It was originally added for gate-arrays to encapsulate some idioms for power routing tied to a particular gate array. However, in current technologies, this is done through Tcl scripts. Therefore, the usage shown below in red is obsolete:

 &ALIAS  &&aliasName   =   aliasDefinition    &ENDALIA
Aliases processing will be disabled not only in LEF/DEF version 6.0 files but also for all older LEF/DEF version files processing. If any of your old files still use ALIAS statements, read them into your tool’s last version that supports ALIAS (for Innovus, the last version supporting ALIAS is Innovus 20.1x), and then write the file back out to remove the ALIAS usage.
