Types of Clones
The Generate Clones form lets you generate clones as:
-
Synchronized Family
If the clone source is selected from the layout cellview in which the clone target is generated, the clone source and the clone target are gathered in a common clone family. The generated clones, in this case, are synchronized to the other members in the clone family.
See Generating Synchronous Clones.
If the clone source layout cellview is different from the layout cellview from which the Generate Clones command is run, the clone source is not pushed inside a clone group. The clone targets, on the other hand, are pushed inside groups, but a synchronized clone family cannot be created. -
Grouped Objects
If the clone source group is selected from the layout cellview in which the target clone groups are generated, the clone source objects and the clone target objects are pushed inside a group. The groups created are neither synchronized clone groups nor gathered in a clone family.
To clone a group of components, create a cell containing all the devices and then clone the cell using the procedure in Clone Source Selection and Target Search and Generation.
This ensures that all the cells or similar circuit sections have the same layout parasitics associated with them.
