Virtuoso® Studio integrates a comprehensive Automated Placement and Routing solution to meet the placement and routing requirements for different custom IC design styles.
The Virtuoso automated placement and routing flow comprises a series of tasks to generate automatically placed and routed layouts. The flow enables you to quickly generate placed and routed layouts that are constraint compliant and LVS correct, and follow DRCs as captured in the Virtuoso technology file. In this flow, you use the Auto P&R assistant to initialize, generate constraints, place, and fill the layout designs automatically, as per your requirements.
The Virtuoso automated placement and routing flow supports the following placement modes:
- Device Placement: Uses the Virtuoso device-level automatic placer to place devices. This mode is available in Layout EXL and higher tiers.
- Standard Cell Placement: Uses the Virtuoso standard cell automatic placer to place standard cells. This mode is available only in Layout MXL.
