Object Moving

You can use the Move command to move an object to another location in the current or another cellview. The following table describes the support available for moving objects.

Object Support for the Move Operation

Multipart paths,
Multipart rectangles

You can move multipart paths and multipart rectangles to a new cellview. All data remains intact. If the multipart path is chopped, that data also moves with it. Multipart paths and multipart rectangles are renamed if there are objects with similar names in the new cellview. To retain alignments while moving to another cellview, each of the aligned objects must be part of the selected set to be moved.

ROD objects

You can move a ROD object within the same cellview or to another cellview. Within the same cellview, moving a ROD object that has other objects aligned to it causes the aligned objects to move as well. ROD objects are renamed if there are objects with similar names in the new cellview.

When you move a ROD object between cellviews and the ROD object is aligned to other ROD objects, the system preserves the alignment only when the aligned ROD objects are also in the selected set; otherwise the alignment is broken.

You should avoid rotating aligned ROD objects during a move operation because the aligned handle names are not updated after the move, so the results might not be what you want.

Rulers

You cannot move a ruler from one cellview to another.

Blockages

When blockages are in the selected set, the Change To Layer functionality remains enabled. The new layer information applies to all shapes in the selected set.

If an owner is moved, the blockage follows the owner.

Boundaries

All instances associated with the cluster, part of the cluster, and inside the bounding box are moved as a group.

You can use the Rotate, Sideways, and Upside Down buttons on the Move form for boundary objects.

(Virtuoso RF Option) When you move a curved path, with the gravity feature enabled, the end points of the curved path snap to the end points or centerline of another curved path or to the center of a pin or a via. When you move a pin or a via, its center is snapped to the end points of a curved path or to the center of another pin or via.
