Create Pins From Labels Form

Use the Create Pins From Labels form to create pins from the labels and text displays in your layout cellview.

Field Description

Creation Options

Lets you control the scope of pin generation, and which objects the system uses to create pins.

  • Objects Within
    • Cellview: Creates pins only at the top-level cellview.
    • Selected Instances: Creates pins within the currently selected instances.
  • Object Type: Specifies which objects are used to create pins.
    • Label: Creates pins from labels.
    • Text Display: Creates pins from text displays.
    • Both: Creates pins from both labels and text displays.
  • Objects
    • All: Creates pins for all the objects of the specified type.
    • Selected: Creates pins only for the currently selected objects of the specified type.
  • Attach Label to Pin: Attaches a label to the pin.
  • Define With
    • Layer: Shows layers in the Pin Layer field, and the default width and length in the Width and Length fields.
    • Text: Shows all pin names in the Objects Text field, their default layers in the Pin Layer field, and the default width and length in the Width and Length fields.

Objects Layer

Shows the layers on which text labels were found when Define With is set to Layer and the Object Type is set to Labels (or Both). There is a single entry for each layer of text labels selected. This field is not editable.

Pin Layer

Shows the available layers for pins to be created on. Choose the layer you want from the drop down list.You can search for specific layer-purpose pair using the search filter.

If the Use Layer Palette LPPs Only option is selected in the Layout Editor Options form, only the layers selected using the search filter in the Layers panel of the Palette are visible in the Pin Layer list box.

Width

Sets the width of the pins to be created. The default width is selected in this order:

  1. The net width set in the Constraint Manager (if the pins are created).
  2. The minWidth spacing rule for the layer if no constraint exists,
  3. The pinWidth environment variable, if it is set.

Length

Sets the length of the pins to be created. By default, the length is the same as the default width.

Ignore

Specifies that no pin is to be created for that entry.
