Voltus-Fi Licensing Information

This section contains the licensing requirements to run Voltus-Fi-XL.

Voltus-Fi-XL Licensing Requirements

You need the following licenses to use the Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution XL software:

This license is required to run Voltus-Fi-XL from the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment (ADE L/ADE XL).
Simulator License (you need one of the following licenses for performing simulation)

Spectre Accelerated Parallel Simulator (Spectre APS) with Spectre Power

This license must be purchased separately.

The Spectre Power option enables EMIR analysis with the Spectre APS base product.

Spectre eXtensive Partitioning Simulator (XPS) with Spectre Power

Voltus-Fi License (the Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution software includes the following products. When you run a command to use a product, a license is checked out)

Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution-L (VTS-Fi-L)

Uses the extracted view to perform IR drop and Electromigration (EM) analysis. It uses the results of the simulation performed using the vavo-db or the psf data.

Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution-XL (VTS-Fi-X)

License string: Voltus_Power_Integrity_Fi_XL

Performs multi-mode simulation (MMSIM) electromigration and voltage drop (EMIR) analysis for power and signal nets using the simulation database generated by Spectre APS or Spectre XPS. It is tightly integrated within Virtuoso.

With this license, you can also run Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution-L (VTS-Fi-L).

Voltus-Fi Custom Power Integrity Solution-AA (VTS-Fi-AA)

License string: Voltus_Power_Integrity_Fi_AA

Supports the following advanced features:

  • Hierarchical EMIR Analysis
  • Hierarchical SHE Analysis
Voltus-Fi will be obsolete in the next base IC release. The “next-generation” solution, Voltus-XFi, is available in this release of Virtuoso. It offers significant improvements to the overall EM-IR flow, including a unified use model, simplified simulation setup, and faster loading of results. The Voltus-XFi license is backward compatible and can be used to run Voltus-Fi if needed.

Voltus-Fi-XL Compatibility with MMSIM/SPECTRE and EXT Product Versions

The table below provides the mapping between the Voltus-Fi-XL product version and the corresponding EXT and MMSIM/Spectre versions that are compatible with it. It is recommended that you use these version specifications to avoid erroneous results.

Voltus-Fi-XL Compatibility with Voltus IC Power Integrity Solution

The table below provides the mapping between the Voltus-Fi-XL product version and the corresponding Voltus IC Power Integrity Solution (Voltus) version that is compatible with it. It is recommended that you use this version specification to avoid erroneous results.

The power-grid view (PGV) generation flow—Voltus-Fi and Voltus—does not provide backward compatibility with the earlier Voltus versions. It is recommended that you use the version specifications provided below.
