rename_layer 
-old_name s_layerName

Renames a layer. The Layer Object Display Panel is automatically refreshed.

-new_name s_layerName

Specifies the new name for the layer.

-old_name s_layerName

Specifies the layer to rename.

-window_id i_windowID

Renames layers in the given window.

Default: Operates on layers in the active window.

The following example renames layer met2 to metal2.

rename_layer -old_name met2 -new_name metal2
