Marking Cells for Virtual Hierarchy Creation
You can use the Configure Physical Hierarchy window to perform selective generation of virtual hierarchies for a layout. Selective virtual hierarchy generation mode can be enabled using the vhSelectiveMode environment variable or by using the Generate – Virtual hierarchy option on the Virtual Hierarchy Options form.
In this mode, the layout is generated completely flat even when the Virtual Hierarchy option on the Generate Layout form is selected. But, you can use the CPH window to selectively choose cells for virtual hierarchy generation.
To choose cells for selective virtual hierarchy generation using the CPH window:
- In the table view, select the Cells tab.
- In the Cells table, right-click the cell for which you want to create the virtual hierarchy and choose Create/remove Virtual Hierarchy.
The icon corresponding to the cell changes to
shape to indicate that the cell is marked for generation during the next Generate All From Source run. You can also select multiple cells for marking in one go.
- To unmark a cell that was previously selected for virtual hierarchy generation, right-click the cell and choose Create/remove Virtual Hierarchy. The icon changes to indicate that the cell will be generated as flat during the next the Generate All From Source run.
