Converting Pins to Rails using the Pin Tool

The Pin Browser of the Pin Tool lets you convert pins to either horizontal or vertical rails. The selected pin is stretched along the assigned edge to create a rail. Therefore pins assigned to the top or bottom edges are converted into VRails and pins assigned to the left or right edges are converted to HRails.

To create a rail:

1. Choose Plan – Pin Planning – Pin Tool. The Pin Browser is displayed.
2. Select the required pins in the Pin Browser
3. Right-click to display the shortcut menu.
4. Choose either Make HRail or Make VRail.
   • Make HRail elongates the selected pins horizontally, from the left edge of the boundary to the right edge.
   • Make VRail elongates the selected pins vertically, from the top edge of the boundary to the bottom edge.

These options are also available on the Pin Planner tab of the Pin Placement form.
