Uniquifying a Cellview
In cellviews that contain Embedded Module Hierarchy (EMH), if you want to edit a module that has been instantiated multiple times and you do not want all modules with the same name to be impacted, you need to first uniquify the module. Uniquifying a cellview involves renaming all modules with the same name to make them unique.
Cellviews containing EMH elements must be uniquified before making changes involving hierarchical objects, such as creating, deleting, or editing objects with hierarchical names. For example, you need to uniquify a cellview when creating an instance using a hierarchical path name.
You can open a non-uniquified design in Virtuoso Layout Suite. However, while performing an edit operation on the design that tries to change the hierarchy of the EMH, you receive warning messages regarding the non-uniquified instances. You then need to uniquify the cellview using the Uniquify command. The command checks out the Virtuoso Layout Suite XL or a higher license. The command works only on oacMaskLayout view types.
-
In the CIW, select Tools — Uniquify.
The Uniquify form appears. -
Specify the library, cell, and view names in the Library, Cell, and View fields. Then, click OK.
If uniquification is successful, a message displays after its completion. If the cellview is already uniquified, a message appears to inform you about it. If the specified cellview cannot be opened, the command exits displaying a message about the failure.
The license is checked back in when the Uniquify form is closed.
The Uniquify command does not disable the Undo command, and it can, therefore, be used when you uniquify the cellview.
