Dummy Shape Abutment Setup

Abutment of shapes in Pcell submasters can trigger due to overlap of two “named” abutment shapes that are not attached to pins, or due to the overlap of shapes that are attached to pins.

For either of the overlap scenarios to result in abutment, the abutment shapes should have the usual abutment properties, such as abutAccessDir, abutName, and abutFunction, defined.

The names of the “named” abutment shapes are accessible only through SKILL.

To set up Pcell dummy shapes for abutment at advanced nodes, you must:

1. Use the dbSetFigAbutName SKILL function to set the abutName of each dummy shape.
2. Set up the same abutment properties as required for any other Pcell:
   • abutFunction Property
   • abutOffset Property
   • abutAccessDir Property
   • abutClass Property
