Troubleshoot Chaining
Device Alignment Changes with Change in Folding Threshold or Chaining
If you find that the alignment that you specified before placing an instance in the layout changes after you change the transistor folding threshold, this is expected behavior.
Device alignment is not preserved if you change the folding threshold because when the folding threshold is changed, the devices are recreated with default alignment. Therefore, if you want the newly folded devices to follow the alignment that you had specified before changing the folding threshold, you will need to specify the alignment again.
Likewise, if you were to switch chaining ON or OFF, the alignment that you had specified will be ignored as the drag set is recreated after every chaining or folding update. For the newly created devices to follow the alignment specified earlier, the alignment will need to be reapplied.
