Technology File Rules for Floorplanning Tools
The Floorplanning tools require the following rules in the technology file to work correctly:
- minSpacing required for all the valid layers and layer purpose pairs.
- minWidth for all the valid layers.
- minVoltageSpacing for all valid layer purpose pairs.
- Grid information for all the routing metal layers for creating placement and routing grids.

mfgGridResolutionfor creating manufacturing grid. - Preferred routing direction for all the metal layer.
- Site definition for creating I/O rows.
- Standard and custom via defs and standard via variants defined in the technology file to define the spacing type.

minEnclosure(minExtensionDistance)and minOppExtension between the via layer and cut layer to define the spacing type. - Routing grid information from technology file for pin snapping.
- Placement grid information for instance snapping.
- All valid layers defined in the technology file.
