Device Abutment

This topic describes the abutment capabilities of the Virtuoso® Layout Suite XL editor (Layout XL). Abutment allows cells to be automatically overlapped, aligned, and electrically connected without introducing a design rule violation or connectivity error. Abutment reduces both the area occupied by a circuit and the length of the interconnect wiring. You can use abutment during interactive layout generation.
