Abutment Function Flow
To enable the abutment of Pcell dummy shapes, Event 5 of the abutFunction flow gets precedence over all the other abutment events—Events 1 to 4 and Event 6. If both the overlapping Pcell pin figures or shapes support Event 5, the sequence in which the abutFunction calls these events is illustrated in the figure below.

If either of the overlapping Pcell instances does not support Event 5, the
abutFunctionstarts with Event 2. -
In the event that Pcell abutment fails or the dummy shapes are not considered abuttable, the
abutFunctioncalls the following events, though the order in which these events are called is not fixed. Event 4 is triggered to allow auto-spacing, when required. Event 6 is triggered only when theabutChainEventenvironment variable is set totrue.
