Split-Fingered Device Folding
Layout XL recognizes the fingers of a split fingered device and enables generating the device as folded in the layout. This means, if a schematic device has the Split fingered devices option selected, Layout XL recognizes each finger as a fold and allows generating the device as a folded device.
For example, if a schematic device has the Split fingered devices option set to true and the schematic instance has the following parameters set:
The schematic device is generated in the layout as three instances with one finger each. The width of each generated device is 300n and the finger width is 300n. Any modifications made to the Number of Folds value in the Generate Folded Devices form accordingly modifies the generated device.
For example, if the number of folds value is changed from 3 to 5, 5 instances instead of 3 are generated in the layout, with a finger each. Likewise, the Total Width and the Finger Width also get modified accordingly to 180n each.
If a multi-fingered device requires to be split after the device has been generated in layout, you can fold the multi-fingered device in order to create a separate device for each finger.
