Make Cell Form

Use the Make Cell form to create a cell from the selected objects in the specified window.

Field Description

Library

Sets the library in which to create the new cellview.

Cell

Sets the name of the new cellview.

View

Sets the view name of the new cellview.

Type

Lets you choose the type of cell you are going to create. The valid choices are none (which lets you choose an unspecified object), block, blockRing, cover, coverBump, pad, padSpacer, core, coreSpacer, coreAntenna, corner, softMacro, via, blockBlackBox, padAreaIO.

Environment variable: makeCellCellType

Replace selected figures

Replaces the selected objects in the cellview with an instance of the new cell.

Origin

Origin drop-down list lets you select the origin point. You can select from LowerLeft, LowerRight, UpperLeft, UpperRight, or Custom. When you select Custom, the X, Y and Set by cursor fields are enabled.

X, Y

Sets an X and Y origin point for the new cell when you enter the points in the X, Y fields.

Set by cursor

Sets an X and Y origin point for the new cell when you enter a new point in the cellview with the pointer.

Hierarchy

  • Transparent instance: Generates made cell instances that are transparent. This means the binder can recognize the instances and nets within a made cell instance and can bind them in a one-to-one correspondence with the schematic instances.
    Environment variable: makeCellTransparent
  • Preserve connectivity: Retains the correct logical connectivity on the made cell.
    Environment variable: makeCellPreserveConn
  • Create pins: Creates pins for nets that are external to the newly made cell, if the nets do not already have a pin created.
    Environment variable: makeCellCreatePins
  • Pins below boundary: Positions the created pins outside the design’s boundary.
    Environment variable: makeCellPinsBelowBoundary

P&R Boundary

Generates a rectangular or a polygonal place and route boundary for the made cell.

  • If the selected PR boundary shape is Rectangle, layout editor automatically calculates the PR boundary dimensions and creates the boundary.
  • If the selected PR boundary shape is Polygon, the layout editor opens the new made cell in the same window with the CreateP&R ObjectsP&R Boundary (Polygon) command selected. You can manually draw the PR boundary on the canvas and the design automatically returns to the top level when you finish creating the polygon.

Environment variable: makeCellPRBoundary

Cluster

Connects or places the selected objects in or with a cluster or instance/cluster boundary. The cellview cannot already contain a cluster or instance/cluster boundary with the same name as the one you have selected. The association between the cluster and the instances/cluster boundary is retained.

Type

Specifies a read-only field that displays what type of cluster you have selected in the Cluster Name cyclic Field inclusive, exclusive, or suggested.
