Object Properties
Every object in your database has information associated with it. You can view information about an object by using its Edit Properties form, also referred as the property editor. The Edit Properties form is a multipurpose, multi-tool form that enables you to edit the properties of whatever you create. Object information is displayed across the following tabs of the form:
- Attribute defines the object. Each type of object has specific, built-in attributes. For example, a polygon always has a layer and a set of coordinates that define vertices. You can view and change attributes of an object.
- Connectivity shows information on how this object relates to a net and/or a terminal and associated net expressions.
- Parameter controls values associated with a cell. Only parameterized cells (Pcells) can have parameters.
- Property displays user-created information that further defines the object. However, some applications also add properties.
- ROD displays the relative object design (ROD) name, handle, and alignment information of the object or instance.
You can access the Edit Properties form by using the Edit - Basic - Properties command or by pressing the Q key before or after selecting an object. You can change the size of the Edit Properties form by using the environment variables propEditorWidth and propEditorHeight.
The title and contents of the form vary depending on the object you select. For example, if you select a via, the name of the form changes to Edit Via Properties. If you select a rectangle, the name of the form changes to Edit Rectangle Form. If you select multiple, different objects, the name of form remains Edit Properties.

You can also edit object properties by using the Property Editor assistant.
